Mentha piperita
Plant Family: Lamiaceae
Peppermint is a vigorous, fast-growing perennial that thrives in moist, well-drained soil and appreciates partial shade. It grows well in a container as long as it's kept well-watered, or if put in the ground, it will spread by runners and quickly form a patch. This plant makes an ambitious groundcover, helps to deter pests from the garden with its volatile oils, and can be worked with in a number of ways (some ideas: sinus steam for congestion, digestive aid, tasty summertime tea or for nausea or stomach upset).
